THE ARTISAN
Toronto's original eco and ethical jewelry designer Lara Bazant imparts her 15+ years of experience in travel and design to adorn women in jewelry that combines global sustainability with individual style. Lara has been branded one of Canada’s top eco designers and featured in Tonic and LouLou magazines. Bazant’s one-of-a-kind and limited edition jewels were born out of her experiences as a teenager living in Pakistan. Brought there during the Gulf War by her father who was involved with the United Nations, she began going to the traditional Friday markets and fell in love with what she saw. Her fascinations with third world craftsmanship lead to the process of collecting materials directly from the source. As a result, each piece promotes a fair wage for artisans worldwide. Lara holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from New York University's prestigious Tisch School of the Arts, and a Design Diploma from the International Academy of Design. She is a proud member of Ontario Crafts Council, Green Enterprise Ontario, Fashion Takes Action, and sits on the Board of Directors at the Canadian Association of Women Executives and Entrepreneurs. To increase her involvement in international development, Lara volunteered in northern Uganda for an entire month in 2009 and set up a specialized program for orphaned teenage girls which spread throughout the community and changed their lives. JEWELRY CARE TIPS
With proper care and storage of your silver jewelry, you will rarely - if ever - need to clean it. After wearing, wipe it once with a soft cotton cloth.
Store it in tissue paper, a soft lined box, a ziploc bag or the pouch provided when you purchased it. Try to wrap pieces individually to avoid them knocking together.
Never do household chores, sports, or swimming in your jewelry, and avoid perfume and hairspray coming into contact with it. If your jewelry becomes tarnished you can rub it with a silver polishing cloth, or clean it naturally with tin foil, baking soda and boiling water. The beauty of .925 sterling silver is that the tarnish process is actually the copper content oxidizing out of the silver, so when you polish it another layer of brilliant silver is revealed.
